| Explorations in Australia
John Forrest
Explorations in Australia is Forrest’s account of his three expeditions into the interior.
His first, in 1869, was to investigate reports of Ludwig Leichhardt’s missing expedition. Then, in 1870, Forrest became the first European to travel from west to east across the Great Australian Bight from Perth to Adelaide.
Forrest’s most important journey was from Geraldton to Peake Station, on the recently completed Overland Telegraph Line.
Illustrations by George French Angas.
Introduction by Valmai Hankel.
