| Voyage of the Lady Augusta
Arthur Kinloch 1853
The first passage and cargo trip along the Murray took place in 1853 when S.S. Lady Augusta steamed from Goolwa to near present-day Koondrook above Swan Hill and back, a distance of some 1400 miles.
One of her passengers was Arthur Kinloch whose account of the trip makes absorbing reading.
This facsimile features a map by Bruce Macdonald, showing every settlement and station mentioned in the text, and a frontispiece taken from another account of the same voyage, as well as an introduction by noted maritime historian, Ronald Parsons.
