Ernest Whitington

The South Australian Vintage 1903

by Ernest Whitington

In 1903 journalist Ernest Whitington visited many of South Australia’s vineyards and wrote a series of articles for the newspaper, The Register.  Whitington gives a fascinating account of the development of the wine industry and discusses vineyard and cellar practices, equipment and methods.

He provides the reader with valuable historical detail and pen portraits of the leading members of the South Australian wine industry of the day.  His often enthusiastic text is accompanied by numerous photographs.

Introduction by Valmai Hankel, wine historian.
